After a gestation period of around three months a cheetah can give birth to up to nine cubs. Unfortunately it’s common for 70% of her litter to be killed by hyenas and other predators.
When I see cheetah cubs on safari I see an average of three, occasionally four cubs. Last month while leading a photo tour in the Maasai Mara. I was privileged enough to come across a family of five. One cub had reportedly been lost a few weeks before but the remaining five looked healthy and playful. I hope you enjoy these photos I took of this happy cheetah clan.
